PLACES TO STAY
There is an extraordinary variety of places to stay in this part of Central Europe. Tell us your preferred hiking trails, add wine tasting and some castles to visit in your programme and we will recommend suitable accommodation to make your visit a memorable one.
Are you bored with the same old type of accommodation? Would like to experience something different? We have some unusual places you may want to explore as part of your trip. Here is an example of “different” types of accommodation you may wish to consider as an alternative.
- A TV Tower
- A Nuclear Fallout Shelter
- A Barrell
- A Tree House
- A Monastery
- A Castle
- A Mill
- A Hospital (YES!! you read it right)
- A Working Farm
We continue to search for such accomodation and will add it to this list as we find it.
Central Europe is blessed with a signifcant number of hotels of all categories. Including.
Budget and Value Hotels
Mid-Range and Business Hotels
Boutique Hotel Properties
Luxury and High-End Hotels
For our hiking clients we would recomend Budget and Value hotels as they can best be combined with hiking routes. If you wish to combine your trip with, for example, a Wellness Experience then we would recommend one of the other categories.
If your interest is mainly in wine tasting (without hiking) then any category will be suitable and we would recommend accommodation based upon the wine tasting tour of your choice.
A little bit of history: Under communism, when travelling was far from easy and often not allowed, people’s main form of escape from the big cities and city life with all it entails, was spending time at their country “cottages”.
These cottages were as unique as their owners in the sense that there were no building restrictions per se and the only restrictions were mainly due to what building materials they owner could obtain, which often dictated their final design and facilities.
Of course after communism there was, and continues to be a very significant update to all cottages or as they are known is this part of the world “chalupas”. There is a big tradition (still) for city dwellers to spend the weekend at the “chalupa” were a great deal of socialising takes place.
Today there are some lovely cottages situated in the most beautiful parts of the countryside. Imagine yourself, after a day’s hiking, the possibility of staying in a green paradise surrounded by beautiful mountains and crystal-clear lakes. Waking up, opening the window, taking a breath of fresh air while listening to the lively bird songs.
You can spend lovely evenings watching the colourful sunsets and sipping a glass of wine. If you are lucky enough, you might even spot a deer somewhere nearby or hear the sounds of an owl.
We include many cottages in our hiking programmes. Cottages are best suited for parties of 4 or more people.
A typical Pension (or B&Bs) in our part of the world is, usually, family owned. The most common denominator amongst our offerings is that they have good, clean and comfortable rooms with en-suite and always include breakfast.
We have a great variety of properties to offer our clients along whichever hiking route is chosen.
